Hurricanes Rank #10 in BCS

The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) polls have been released and the Miami Hurricanes are ranked #10. The Canes are 5-1, with their only loss coming to Virginia Tech. The Canes must win out and receive some help from fellow ACC teams, in order to travel to Tampa for the ACC Championship game. There are a lot of factors if the 3 tied teams (Miami, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech) win their remaining games. The next couple of games will be crucial to see if Miami will be able to make the trip to Tampa and go to a BCS game.

Canes win over the UCF Knights

Bright House Networks Stadium saw it's largest crowd when the University of Miami came to Orlando to play the University of Central Florida Knights. The Canes scored 27 points against a win over UCF, who only had 7 points on the board.

Miami's quarterback, Jacory Harris threw for 293 yards and a touchdown, after surviving being sacked 6 times. After the win, Miami is 5-1, is gearing up for conference games, as their remaining games, except USF, are all ACC conference games. The Canes must win out and get help from fellow teams, in order to advance to the ACC Championship, which is in Tampa, Florida.

According to Hurricanesports.com, "We got a positive out of something that could have been negative," Miami coach Randy Shannon said. "Tough situation for the defense, but they held in there and got the turnover. Those sort of changes are really big for us right now."

The Canes need to continue to play good football and make the trip to Tampa and a BCS bowl game.

Battle of the Orange and Green

Miami prevails as the better orange and green team in Florida after beating FAMU 48-16. The Rattlers came into the game undefeated, with a record of 4-0, but their undefeated record was quickly changed, after the Canes scored 31 points in the first half. Trying everything they could, the Rattlers could not stop the dominated Miami Hurricanes.

Jacory Harris, Miami’s quarterback, threw for 217 yards, including two touchdowns, but with two interceptions. However, that didn’t stop the Canes from putting points on the board.

After the win, Miami needs to prepare for the next game, when they travel north to Orlando to visit the UCF Knights.

Miami Upsets #8 Oklahoma

Traveling all of the way from Norman, Oklahoma just to receive a loss…what a shame! #17 Miami Hurricanes upset #8 Oklahoma Sooners, outscoring them 21-20, but don’t let the score fool you.

I was watching this game from Baltimore, Maryland and was very impressed with how the Canes played. Quarterback, Jacory Harris, looked very poised and comfortable in the pocket.

Javvaris James ran for a career high of 150 yards against the Sooners, who have the number one rush defense in the country.

Linebacker, Jordan Futch, told Hurricanesports.com, “It’s our time. We are back. We are still the U.”
